I am not picking on anyone, but seriously…how can you not love Lois Lane? I mean, honest to god, she’s LOIS LANE. — Gail Simone (@GailSimone)

I will never get it.

There’s no Superman story worth much without Lois. Historically, the Superman works when Lois is in the mix in a big way and fails when she isn’t. Even in Smallville, we knew she was coming.

That’s because Smallville was never just a show about a man becoming Superman. It was equally a show about a man looking for his life partner in the way that ::women:: in narratives search for their life partner. Except here it was a man. And the more Clark suffered and longed and looked to “belong” and loved and dreamed of love and making love and had his heart broken the more her presence was tangible and present even before she was physically there. She was out there and he was waiting for her. And when she came to Smallville she literally came in a clap of thunder into Clark’s life putting them both on a collision course towards each other that neither of them could deny or run away from no matter how hard they tried. Just like The Kents, she found him naked and vulnerable in a cornfield and she took him in. Their course was set long before they admitted it. It was only a matter of time.

and every time i look at you - it’s like the first time
